If your name is Muhammad, or Mohammed, or Mohamed, you carry the name of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
It's in the Quran four times:
"Muhammad is not but a messenger. Messengers have passed on before him." (Quran 3:144)
"Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the seal of the prophets." (Quran 33:40)
"…and believe in what was sent down to Muhammad, and it is the truth from their Lord." (Quran 47:2)
"Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." (Quran 48:29)
Muhammad means the one who is praised, again and again.
The Prophet ﷺ told us to use it: "Name yourselves with my name, but don't call yourselves by my kunya," meaning Abu al-Qasim. (Sahih al-Bukhari 3539)
When the Quraysh insulted him, they used a twisted version of his name: Mudhammam, the condemned one. He told his companions: "Doesn't it amaze you how Allah protects me from the insults of Quraysh? They insult and curse Mudhammam, and I am Muhammad." (Sahih al-Bukhari 3533)
So every time someone calls your name, they're saying: the praised one.
